If you want to run a company with quality people (and not just employees) you have to spend more time hiring each person than 30 minutes. I would say 3 to 6 interviews of gradually increasing communication is a must. Otherwise you will end up misfiring a good portion of the time. If you can't do this, you should probably hire everyone on a temporary basis for a few months until you're sure they are going to fit.
