What about how the two compared when they interacted (British Empire comes to mind)
- tokenadult 17y agoSince the reign of the Qianlong Emperor and King George III (rough contemporaries who both had long reigns), Britain and the West in general has plainly been more powerful and more influential than China. But that is a recent change in the balance of power. There hasn't been a lot of interaction between China and the West, but in Marco Polo's day China was much more impressive.
