Erlang on Xen
- portmanteaufu 13y agoCould someone explain how the language VM is capable of doing things like making sockets without having an OS to make system calls to? Pretty darned impressive.
- dragonwriter 13y agoThis isn't the standard language VM, but a special one designed for this purpose. Presumably, in addition to the normal VM features, it implements the "OS" elements that the regular runtime would rely on. Looked at another way: its a single-purpose OS, whose single purpose is "run Erlang code".
