When interviewing programmers, I've not noticed any stark differences between the old and the young, but I have noticed a difference between years of experience, as expected. Yes, hire an individule that is excited and willing to learn new things and keep up with this crazy industry the way others keep up with sports, politics, and whatnot ;)
