> I note that "mother nature" weeds out most mutations
'Mother nature' actually creates mutations; without them, we wouldn't be able to adapt to nature's changing circumstance.
> And then there's the small details that humanities isn't all that diverse
I didn't say that humanities was diverse; I said that a diverse society needed to encompass the humanities as well, because that diversity is necessary for it to thrive.
I'd argue that Socrates and Plato (philosophy) are as well remembered as Pythagoras (maths). Surely that says something about the importance of the humanities?
- anamax 18y agoI'm not saying that all diversity is bad. I'm saying that some/most diversity is useless at best. Note that I'm also not saying that the humanities are useless or bad. I'm saying that it's quite possible that we could get all the benefits from the humanities and spend far less on them. No, that doesn't imply that we shouldn't let people study the humanities and end up driving cabs.
