Using the official YUM repo http://nginx.org/packages/centos/6/$basearch/ http://nginx.org/packages/centos/6/$basearch/ they don't build with the `ngx_http_spdy_module` enabled. Is there a way to get it, without doing a custom compile? I'd like to continue to use the YUM package manager.
- nacs 14y agoFrom http://nginx.org/en/docs/http/ngx_http_spdy_module.html http://nginx.org/en/docs/http/ngx_http_spdy_module.html : "This module is not built by default, it should be enabled with the --with-http_spdy_module configuration parameter." So unless you go with an unofficial binary, you'll have to compile it in yourself.
- oconnore 14y agoOn Ubuntu, there is an "nginx-extras" package with more modules. I don't have a centos machine handy. But really, the burden of a 'custom compile' is small. Nginx configuration is simple, it has minimal dependencies, and it builds quickly. You will need zlib-dev and openssl-dev.
- druska 14y agoChris Lea has a PPA for nginx-devel with SPDY enabled: https://launchpad.net/~chris-lea/+archive/nginx-devel https://launchpad.net/~chris-lea/+archive/nginx-devel
- stock_toaster 14y agograb the spec file, edit, and build. then use yum localinstall. EDIT: looks like spdy (on same port as https) requires openssl >= 1.0.1. centos has 1.0.0. nuts.
