In Alberta, I passed the test for a learners permit at 14, which required being with a licenced driver. Practicing driving at 14 on Sunday mornings and quiet highways is an excellent way to learn to drive, and I think to train the brain to react automatically to events that happen too quickly for the conscious mind.
