"We the People" don't actually vote for the President, this is reserved for the "Electoral College." The only "people" who "vote with their money" are the corporate interests, as most of us are far too poor to do to so. I highly doubt that the current domestic surveillance program is a reflection of the popular opinion, nor do I believe that drone attacks on the other side of the world are supported by the majority of the populace.
