I mean can you judge text editor based on some apps people have written with them? Sadly, sometimes, yes. If I see code with mixed tabs/spaces, mixed line endings, non-indented code, etc, it's a pretty good guess they weren't using Emacs or some other half-decent IDE. Not saying it's impossible to do it, just that badly formatted code is usually indicative of brain damage, either in the editor or the programmer.
