A "couple [of] functions"? What does the other do?
- stcredzero 13y ago[of] is optional in this case.
- cmsd2 13y agocould be an American/British English difference. I would consider omitting "of" incorrect in British English.

- ralph 13y agoIt seems from others' replies that it's not optional. It certainly isn't in English. I put it in not to correct but to explain my interpretation of what was written to better frame my question.
