What I find so interesting about this article is that they way it is written it combines story telling with the actual facts as they are in Dubai. During my visits there, I've never gotten over the feeling that the luxurious facade that most everybody associates with Dubai was built on the back of what is effectively slave labor. I actually feel more at ease in the Karama area than in the Dubai written about in the article. Yes, it's a very poor area, but over there people don't feel the need to pretend to be nice to you.
