If you remap your Caps Lock to Control using System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Modifier Keys, the delay is gone. At least on my model. YMMV.

- omni 14y agoSorry, I should have clarified. My MBP keyboard works just fine with the caps lock switched to control because of what you described. My problem was with trying to use a wired Apple keyboard with Ubuntu.
