There is no difference between how iTunes and iPhoto work. They have a hierarchy internally (iTunes: albums, iPhoto: events). Then each element can be dragged into as many albums/playlists as desired, and dynamic albums/playlist can be created. I haven't found anything in Everpix that I couldn't have gotten out of iPhoto... :(
