I would suggest explaining your case to your parents, showing them your plans or your work would definitely bolster your chances of them being on your side and understand. It is probable that they simply don't know what you do and always assume that you aren't doing something productive, maybe going through the route of getting a teacher on your side and helping you out may be really helpful too.
