If I had received complaint, I'd have replied with a big flaming "fuck you" (well, I'd probably have worded it somewhat diplomatically). Fighting sexism and discrimination also means fighting zealots on the other side. People who'd complain about this are typically "feeding the troll", and while it's not as bad as "trolling" (used here as an euphemism for discrimination) itself, we have a much better handle on that.
