  If you are using it as a currency, "offline and encrypted" is "unusable." If you are using it as a commodity to trade, well, it's perfect.

    Maybe. Perhaps it might be useful to compare online bitcoin storage with cash in your pocket. You wouldn't convert your entire nett worth to cash, stick it in your pocket (or for "added security", hide it in your sock!) then go out clubbing. Unless you're about to buy a car or a house with bitcoin, there's no need to store tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars worth in an immediately useable (and hence potentially stealable) status.
