I think "inferred preferences" sums it up pretty well. Automatically adjusted clocks were probably one of the first examples of this, get off a plane in a different country and your phone/watch is automatically adjusted to the current time zone.

The main problem with that which needs to be addressed is when you don't know whether it has already switched to the new time zone, or if it's still about to switch. As a result, you don't know the time.
