It's a shame that Amazon didn't invest in creating a Kindle API rather than buying an existing service. I built http://kindred.it http://kindred.it to load up my highlights via xpath because I was so frustrated with the kindle.amazon.com UI - it seems they could benefit much more from creating an API and letting great services be built rather than acquiring what will likely be Shelfari mkII.
