- mistercow 14y agoBut ST2 isn't free.
- eurleif 14y agoNeither is TextMate.
- drivebyacct2 14y agoIt's also not Mac only though. (Yeah, yeah, I'm a heretic.)
- mistercow 14y agoIt's not that you're a heretic (I do my work using ST2 on Ubuntu), it's just that stcredzero said TM was "one of the best free editors out there." So comparing it to a non-free editor is irrelevant to that comment. If you said Chrysler was one of the best American car companies, and I said "They've got nothing on Toyota", then that would be a silly thing for me to say.
- drivebyacct2 14y agoAh, I understand, I took "free" in the other context when I read it originally.
- stcredzero 14y ago> I tried it for a week, nothing over ST2 as far as I was concerned. What do you like about it? I've tried both ST and TM. TM is enough editor for me. I can do some pretty advanced things with it (like sending selected text to an external script) and it now has ongoing development and community support.
- aaronblohowiak 14y ago>like sending selected text to an external script If you program in a mac, you might want to learn about 'Services', which is a way to do whatever you want with selected text in nearly any osx app.
- stcredzero 14y agoI always wondered what that was, but hadn't got around to checking it out.
