JavaScript integration between Sublime Text and Chrome DevTools
- makepanic 14y agolast discussion for the sublime chrome devtools https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=5387428 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=5387428
- mykey 14y agoit wont make me faster but i'll feel better doing it
- stcredzero 14y ago"Given up on TextMate." I've been using the open source TextMate. I have to say, it's one of the best free editors out there.
- adamstac 14y agoThat was just 7 months ago though http://thechangelog.com/textmate-2-now-on-github/ http://thechangelog.com/textmate-2-now-on-github/ Folks started to give up on updates to TextMate years ago. I'm certainly glad that it's open now and being pushed forward, but that was only after lying stagnant for too long -- meanwhile Sublime Text propped up and pushed forward.
- lucian1900 14y agoAnd it's cross-platform, too.
- adamstac 14y agoVery good point.
- drivebyacct2 14y agoI tried it for a week, nothing over ST2 as far as I was concerned. What do you like about it?
- mistercow 14y agoBut ST2 isn't free.
- eurleif 14y agoNeither is TextMate.
- drivebyacct2 14y agoIt's also not Mac only though. (Yeah, yeah, I'm a heretic.)
- mistercow 14y agoIt's not that you're a heretic (I do my work using ST2 on Ubuntu), it's just that stcredzero said TM was "one of the best free editors out there." So comparing it to a non-free editor is irrelevant to that comment. If you said Chrysler was one of the best American car companies, and I said "They've got nothing on Toyota", then that would be a silly thing for me to say.

- frankblizzard 14y agofwiw I still enjoy using textmate. Also I guess part of the success of ST2 is due to support of textmate bundles
- warmwaffles 14y agoand the cross platform ability. I constantly flip between Mac, Linux, and windows.
- jQueryIsAwesome 14y agoIt's the python plugins and the multiple carets... mostly.
- sorbits 14y agoTextMate has an elegant implementation of multiple carets: http://blog.macromates.com/2011/multiple-carets/ http://blog.macromates.com/2011/multiple-carets/
- jQueryIsAwesome 14y agonice; VS too (well, not sure if elegant) using an extension: http://www.hanselman.com/blog/SimultaneousEditingForVisualStudioWithTheFreeMultiEditExtension.aspx http://www.hanselman.com/blog/SimultaneousEditingForVisualSt...
- gee_totes 14y agoAre there any tools for integration between vim and chrome dev tools?
- adamstac 14y agoHmm, we'll certainly keep our eyes out for that and cover it.
- account_taken 14y agoI know some are salivating over this but it's still far behind the DevTools built into Chrome. For example, how do you inspect the DOM? How you do you look at generated runtime elements? How do you inspect cascaded styles? Why use two tools when the other is just a proxy to a subset of the functionality built into Chrome's dev tools?
- brenfrow 14y agoDang... what can't you do with Sublime Text? I've been using it for 9 months now and the plugins keep getting better.
