Wildly extrapolating from current trends : (Old, out of touch, heavy handed government officials, increasing complexity of technology landscape, anonymous, bitcoin, various governments creating secret "cyber-war" units, stuxnet etc..) we're heading to a breakdown and reconfiguration of the entire power balance between the "lawyer-types" who run the government now and the hacker types who are mostly relegated to the sidelines of the society for now. I remember seeing footage of a congressional sessions (just after SOPA was sidelined) where the phrase "let's call in the nerds" was used repeatedly.
