Ask HN: Wondering why YC team wont email for questions on application

Just submitted our YC application and was amused to read that YC wont email us if they have question "If we have a question, we won't send you an email. Instead you'll see a a link to it on this page and at the top of Hacker News (when you're logged in). So check HN regularly after submitting." I dont mind logging in to see status as I log in pretty regularly, but does anyone know why? Is it just to bring some extra traffic?
