Honestly, who gives a fuck?
Seriously, use vim, sublime, emacs.. if smearing shit on the walls can be transcribed into text do that.
I do not care.
And neither should you.
It's about getting the job done. Use whatever tools you need to do that. I use vim, and sometimes I'll open sublime for browsing code... does any of that matter? No. I get shit done. That's what matters.
- calinet6 14y agoThe problem is that people will and do argue vehemently against your choice if you even mention what editor you use, as if it affects them personally. I thank you for being one of the people confident and secure enough to not care, but sadly, not everyone is like you. And at some point you have to say "Enough! This is why I made my choice. This is what I believe. Deal with it." Sometimes you have to defend yourself. Not against you, personally, richardlblair, but against people much more annoying and persistent than you. You are exactly and completely correct, but not everyone has the provenance to be so well balanced, particularly on the Greater Internet.
- bluesnowmonkey 14y agoI'd love to, but my organization basically mandates vim.
- ldh 14y agoI think it's a sure sign that some ham-fisted buffoonery is afoot when a company mandates what text editor or IDE a programmer should use. But I'm thankful for those big red flags that signal to me that I would not be happy at this company.
