I'm not an apple user so I had to google what that means. Apparently it is a synonym for mainboard and it seems to be mainly used for apple computers. Is there a reason to use "logic board" instead of "mainboard"?
- josteink 14y agoProbably the normal Apple marketing reason: make the things they use seem unique, and also trademarkable. For instance, you can only get Apple-equipment with "Retina-display". Ofcourse you get higher DPI displays from a lot of vendors, but they cannot offer you a "Retina-display". Same for the "Facetime-camera", or front-facing camera as the rest of the world calls it.
- sbuk 14y agoNo.
- sbuk 14y agoIt's what they were called when Woz developed the Apple 1 microcomputer in the mid 70's. They were also called logic boards by everyone else until around the mid 80's and the rise of the IBM PC.
