If the reasoning is that Larry Page should write a statement to appease the tech intelligentsia; I'm afraid their actual motivations would be probably be more uncomfortable than the current situation. In other words, I don't think it is necessarily a long term statement about the technical viability of RSS (probably something more to do with protecting advertising revenue, but I don't know).
