Absolutely agreed. I would take it a step further and say that you can't "plan" to be rich and powerful, or have huge social impact, or be disruptive. It doesn't really make sense and it sidesteps the actual goal you should have, which is doing what you want to do and making the small differences you want to make daily, monthly, yearly. xkcd's alt text here (http://xkcd.com/874/ http://xkcd.com/874/) says something very powerful: "I don't trust anyone who's more excited about success than about doing the thing they want to be successful at."
You pursue what it is you want to pursue, like, and has meaning for you--non-profit work, lawyering, javascript debugging--and the impact comes later, if it does at all. "Get rich, then change the world with it" is betting your future on the resources you might have tomorrow, whereas you should be pushing forward with the resources that you DO have today.
