RW has a reputation for courting controversy. As a result, people tend to be more critical of her than they normally would. Regardless of the validity of her post here, nobody operates in a vacuum.
I personally suspect that her public shaming, wikipedia vandalism, etc., are less a function of her being a woman, and more a function of her being a fairly unpleasant and somewhat dramatic person

- nollidge 14y agoI guess, if you prefer the Kafka version of reality. Meanwhile, a woman tells one 20 second story in one video, and then every day for the two years hence, people fucking can't stop bringing it up and berating her for it. Then whenever she bothers to defend herself, a thousand clueless fools get to say that she's the one who won't drop it. You know why she talks about people being mean to her all the time? It's probably because people are pretty fucking mean to her all the time. I have no clue why, if you aspire to be even a halfway decent human, you think she shouldn't be pissed about that and shouldn't talk about it. Might want to examine why that is.
- mnicole 14y agoI'll just say that I think it is difficult to make the case that her gender has had less to do with the sum of her ongoing experiences than any other factors based on the types of attacks it looks like she gets hurled at her (based on Twitter, Encyclopedia Dramatica).
- mnicole 14y agoUpdate: I've done a little more research on her just to be sure and it seems as though while her intentions started out good, she's now more engrossed in saying things for shock value and trying to define feminism her way than she is about actually progressing the movement. I still stand by what I said regarding the amount of harassment she gets based on her gender, but her method of advocacy is a little much to be desired and her ideologies are based more in theory/ignorance than they are in experience. She deserves the criticism, but the way people attack her just encourages the behavior she's displaying so it's become a circlejerk.
