It doesn't have the same reputation as New Scientist, but I'm taking it with some cautious optimism. I'm still reading the original report to filter through any embellishments etc... While structures alone may not provide conclusive evidence, perhaps the composition will. The name Anil Samaranayake caught my eye, since he's the the director of the Colombo Medical Research Institute.
