I find it amusing that the Republicans are critiquing our new President when their former party leader raised our national debt substantially (and brought back massive deficits).
I also find it interesting that they discuss ending bailouts when Bush gave the first bailout before leaving office (but no one actually monitored where the money was going).
- cwan 18y agoThere's no doubt that Bush was a massive spender - but let's face it, it was nothing compared to what is being projected under Obama - so I think there's a legitimate critique here: http://blog.heritage.org/2009/03/24/bush-deficit-vs-obama-deficit-in-pictures/ http://blog.heritage.org/2009/03/24/bush-deficit-vs-obama-de... The problem with spending big is that most people have no idea what's in the spending bills - witness all the ridiculous things (e.g. AIG bonuses and the questionable outrage that happened under Obama/Geithner).
- jhancock 18y agoyou are correct...the spending is massive...and most of it, so far, to pay back bad investments from the Bush years.
