While I am very concerned about things like this, this article starts off with unfounded FUD. At the beginning their premise is that drones will be used to track gun owners to violate second and fourth amendments but the documents they cite do not mention anything at all about weapons.
The interception of cell signals reminds me of the excellent blackhat presentation of a MITM cell tower attack drone http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2011/08/blackhat-drone/ http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2011/08/blackhat-drone/
- bobwaycott 14y agoWhile I agree this article makes sweeping generalizations, grossly misrepresents data (like the rancher story), relies on unfounded FUD, etc., I just want to point out that the unredacted copy (the only one I've read) does in fact contain a statement about weapons: >>> 3.5.3.1.7 Shall (T) be capable of identifying a standing human being at night as likely armed or not (based on position of arms) at a slant range of one and a half times the specified Operating Altitude. ... unless you think that means determining if the standing person actually has standard-issue appendages attached to his or her shoulders.
