I can't believe people even mention Josef Muller Brockmann to compare this UI kit with something like Minimalism. People at Designmodo are telling you to "...better to use different shades of provided colors than new." This is not a flat design guide, this is not minimalism. This is fashion trend. This is dogma. And as designers we shouldn't be following trends so easily, so blindly. We have the knowledge to create interfaces that work. We don't need pre-baked buttons and colors. Shame on us.
