Another source says, "Believe me, my young friend, there is NOTHING--absolute nothing--half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats..." I believe this to be true at least for me, and I've also found that no other machine exists that can gather a family or friends together with the same reliable prospect for good times. A quality boat can last decades, but yes they are never any sort of good investment; they are an up-front and recurring cost. It just depends if it's your thing or not.
