Why stop here? Why not make the application switching fully ubiquitous between multiple devices via app "off-loading" to the cloud? There's many different ways they can approach this: a hobbyist hosting an ubuntu server running whatever's necessary to facilitate this; a hosted solution -- possibly by Canonical (ala Ubuntu One or competitors); and a corporate solution (your IT staff managing Ubuntu servers and environment). I feel like this might be the next step, especially with app/desktop virtualization becoming more popular.
