It looks comparable to me... I hadn't seen bouncy before though, so I'll have to check it out if I run into any problems with node-http-proxy. I agree, having the power to write your proxy code in javascript is really nice, especially compared to having to struggle with getting some infrastructure's DSL to work for you (e.g. nginx, varnish's).
