Canola oil sounds frightening!
- driverdan 14y agoAll oils are calorie dense, not just canola.
- muxxa 14y agoAlso, Canola oil (aka Rapeseed oil) is possibly the best oil you can use. If you eat a lot of good fats (good = monounsaturated, e.g. olive oil, avocados, peanuts), then it reduces cravings for bad fats (fried foods, butter, animal fat etc.). A rule of thumb is that any fat that it is liquid at room temperature is 'good'.
- tbrownaw 14y agoAlso, Canola oil (aka Rapeseed oil) is possibly the best oil you can use. It's the best, except when it doesn't agree with you. In which case it's rather annoying, since it's so very popular.
- rkowalick 14y agoOil is pure fat, and fat is the most calorie dense of all foods. Canola Oil, Corn Oil, Soybean Oil are all pure fat, so they are all around 120 cal per Tbsp (9 cal per gram). From a calorie standpoint, butter is better, as it is not 100% fat. It also tastes way better.
