- StefanKarpinski 14y agoThis blog post and website in general are both guilty of something that I see a lot and that drives me crazy: I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS IS. You got me to click on the link – now what? I don't know what the app in question is. I don't know what codeable.io is. Even after clicking through to the home page, I still don't really know what codeable.io is. Something about WordPress and contractors, maybe? The first thing on a site should SAY WHAT IT IS. The first line of the blog post should include something like "A little over a month ago, we released our app to do X" – with a link to the app. You know, so I know what the hell you're talking about and where I can get it.
- tzaman 14y agoThanks, I guess we'll have to increase the header font even more :) Joke aside, it's an outsourcing portal for WordPress. That would be the shortest version.
- samastur 14y agoMaybe instead of "Get help developing your Wordpress site" you should have your subtitle as title? Blog has neither and would benefit from either.
- tzaman 14y agoThank you for the suggestion, I'll put it in
- StefanKarpinski 14y agoThis is all written deeply from your perspective of doing this 24/7 for months. You have to step back, shed all of that immersion, and write to the perspective of someone who's never heard of this before. Also, a much better angle for posting this on HN might be "Tired of friends asking to help setup their blogs?" This audience doesn't need your service, but they probably get a fair number of requests for help with things exactly like this and may send customers your way.
- tzaman 14y agoTruth is, both the landing page and blog could use a bit of extra love. With V2, we have outsourced some functionality (which I'll cover in another post) so we're hoping there will be more time available to us to polish these things. It's only so much a 3-person team can do in a given time :)
