Among other things Excel's thread-safety is flakey, which when you're importing a realtime price feed into excel turns out to be fairly important. Most of the time your spreadsheet even if it has perfect logic will fine, until some weird race condition gets hit the price being loaded gets transposed and you model gives you a wildly wrong answer which you then trade on.
