Ask HN: What are your heuristics for evaluating a prospective job and company?

Not all companies are Google and Facebook, and often you get contacted by companies you haven't heard of nor know anyone at. in those cases, what do you look for? I'm trying to keep an open mind if i'm not initially excited (or understand) the product. I try to figure out if I'm being interviewed by people I'd want to work with. But it's tough if you only have 1-2 interviews to make those judgements. Besides hitting google and researching, anyone have any tips or heuristics they use?
