I'm from Europe ... and yes I get funny looks when I ask for club soda at bars and restaurants. I stopped drinking Soda with sugar/HFCS/fake sugar about 2 years ago for health reasons. I like the carbonation. There are quite a few people I know personally that drink it as well (non-Europeans), mainly because it is better for them than regular soda.
