    I don't know how dangerous it is to work on an oil rig, but I imagine it is pretty dangerous to work in a mental facility too.

  Yes, but nursing and similar healthcare work is low-pay.

    Nursing is not a low-paying job, not any longer. There are some nurse's aide jobs that are low paying, but registered nurses make good money. Many make 6 figures, including overtime.
