Will go ever well when Netflix suddenly stops working.

You mean when people click to activate and think nothing of it?

Hopefully that won't train people to just click "activate" everywhere. OTOH hopefully this will convince netflex etc to migrate away from reliance on silverlight and we can have something that works on Linux without a load of wine hacks.

I would imagine it would say something like "Click to play Silverlight", and people would click it, and it would work.

Netflix, along with Google and Microsoft, are working on a specification to enable playback of encrypted and protected content. I'd imagine this is what they're hoping will come about to work around the anti-flash/silverlight/java technologies: https://dvcs.w3.org/hg/html-media/raw-file/tip/encrypted-media/encrypted-media-fpwd.html https://dvcs.w3.org/hg/html-media/raw-file/tip/encrypted-med...
