I think there's a hard "a" and dragging out syllables at the end of a sentence like a question - "surfer dude", "valley girl" etc are definitely a thing. But you're right that so much broadcast comes from socal that nobody would notice it, as its definitely become broadcast standard for anything that's not the news (reality TV etc)...
