Ask HN: Would you have a use for $30 custom motion capture?
I'm currently considering (or rather, my company is considering) investing in a very high-end motion capture system - as in "usually used by Hollywood studios" high-end.
One of the side benefits of this system is that we could produce very clean motion capture data very quickly. So, I'm trying to assess what other markets or groups would find unusually cheap custom motion capture useful.
Is that the kind of thing that you'd find useful in your business in some way? Obviously, it's mostly useful for animating 3D characters - in games, of course, and other 3D apps, as well as for demo videos, advertising, and so on.
Currently, we're thinking we could get the price to around $30 for a single 10-second one-person motion. We could also do multi-person capture, much longer captures, and pretty much anything else you could think of.
Would that be something you or your business would be interested in?
