Yet another folksy anecdote parroted by the same people who claim "the last disease we've cured was Polio". Saying these things does not make them true.

Testing hundreds of thousands of different molecules in hopes of finding on that works. For every NME that makes it onto the market, there are several thousands or tens of thousands that are initially tested.
