This doesn't seem too hard to me but maybe that's because I'm mathy. At one of previous places my boss had found that he was able to boil down the interview to a take home problem that the candidate should just be prepared to discuss, not even solve. Literally 1 out of 10 did this. The rest gave up before hand. It's hard to find good people.
