The Armenian genocide, the Holocaust, Cambodia, Rowanda, North Korea... History is replete with examples were the current generation know the consequences of inaction of the prior generation, yet did nothing to stop genocide in their generation. I don't know what would change things, but I have little hope for future generations being motivated by condemning our inaction.
