It's a poorly written and titled article. The trailer was around $46k when new, plus $14k in transportation costs. I'm sure the school isn't including transportation with the sale, so it's silly to include the transportation costs in the original price. The article says that auction "enabled something like the BuyItNow feature with a $1 bid", which is a terrible way to describe not including a reserve price. The auction ran its course and BuyItNow never came into the picture.
