The current state of the law aside, I think there is only one justification for federal involvement in states business. That is if states violate fundamental rights of their people (Even the I would rather propose to cut them loose than to stage an intervention.) Enforcement of victimless crimes is something that congress should not have the power to mandate and the executive branch should not be allowed to do.
