Hi there! We know MITnet is down, and we're pretty sure its an issue with BGP. We've been having issues periodically over the past few weeks, and this is almost certainly not the result of an attack, just network misconfiguration.

- mayneack 14y agoConfusing timing eh?
- saifelse 14y agoIs there a particular reason why Google servers are still accessible from within MIT despite MITnet being down?
- lwf 14y agoGoogle peers directly with MIT, so connections there do not have to go to the public internet.
- fuckyoumit4 14y agoFuck you, shitbag.
- FUCK_MIT 14y agoMurderer.
- cjbprime 14y ago> Is there a particular reason why Google servers are still accessible from within MIT despite MITnet being down? Google and MIT have a network peering arrangement.
- fuckyoumit 14y agoYou have blood on your hands.

- fuckyoumit2 14y agoMurderer.
- fuckyoumit3 14y agoDisgusting traitor.
- fuckyoumit4 14y agoChoke on your own vomit. Subhuman murderer.
- FUCK_MIT 14y agoI hope that God shows you no mercy in his punishment, murderer.
- kristofferR 14y agoIt's understandable that you're angry, but spamming a random site with a "random" guy from MIT that didn't have anything to do with Aaron's case isn't going to solve anything.
- jborden13 14y agoVoid of any thought.
- mitstudent 14y agoHow long do you estimate until the Internet will be back up? Thank you.
- mayneack 14y agoSome things are back now. Still not mit.edu
- edwardunknown 14y agoNot to worry, they'll probably begin the actual attack as soon as you get everything fixed :)
- chadscira 14y ago:(
- lvs 14y ago3down needs an update. it is borderline useless in situations like these.
- seleniumhi 14y agoEven now, when service is back, the most recent entry on 3down is from December 31.
- sas 14y agoMIT should have a twitter, right?
- lwf 14y agoTo be clear, MIT SIPB maintains services at MIT, but does not maintain MIT's network. Further details as to the root cause are forthcoming. It is not clear whether this was an attack or not.
