- danso 14y agoWhile I do support public scrutiny of the obviously terrible process that led to Aaron's heavy-handed prosecution, I think people need to not jump to sexy, but obviously wrong conclusions, especially of they want to be seen as the side of logic and rationality. It reminded me of the whole SOPA debate, when so many were so quick to claim it a Republican scheme because its main author was a Texas Republican, and, I suspect, because of the whole Alaska Republican senator Ted Stevens "series of tubes"/net neutrality fight and from partisan biases...If the effort had been focused on slamming the Republican party, then SOPA/PIPA might have passed alone on its many Democratic benefactors, including Sen. Al Franken, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, and Sen. Pat Leahy (nevermind the many Republican opponents, such as Rep. Issa and the Paul family). As much as I'd like to say that the hacker demographic does a better job of researching the facts, it seems they're just as susceptible to emotion and bias...which is fine, it's just a blind spot to be aware of and to be willing to quickly correct.
